One of the leading causes of stroke is smoking which can destroy blood vessels, clog arteries, increase blood pressure and double the work load on the heart.
There are signs that usually indicate that a stroke is impending. These include numbness or tingling sensations on a particular part of the body, problems in vision and sometimes headache can be indicative of a stroke. It is important to be aware of these warning signs especially if you have high blood pressure.
Stroke is largely preventable especially with those risk factors that can be controlled. Starting with your eating habits, you should attempt to change to a healthy lifestyle. Since smoking can also be controlled it is time to quit that habit too. If you eat right, exercise and control your high blood pressure, your risk of stroke will be greatly diminished.
