Warning Signs of Impending Stroke

It is important that you are aware of the signs of impending stroke. This will give you warning and will make you more prepared. When you suspect that a stroke is happening, it is best that you get medical attention right away by calling 911 if it is available in your area.

Most common symptoms experienced by people who had a stroke are numbness in the face arms and legs on either side of the body - this is because when you are attacked by stroke the lesion will be either on the left or right side of your brain and each side of the brain affects the opposite side of your body. If the left side of your brain is affected then the right side of your body will be affected.

When you notice a person being confused apart from his usual self and associated with difficulty in speaking and understanding the things around him, it can be suspected as stroke. If this happens you need to calm the person and get immediate medical help.

There are some patients who reported trouble with vision, difficulties in using one eye or even both eyes. You should also suspect a stroke if a person misjudges distances leading to a fall or suddenly loses balance. This could also manifest as becoming uncoordinated in simple things like unable to control their hands in picking up objects, buttoning their shirt or tying their shoes. Surprisingly simple things suddenly become complicated to them. Another common warning sign of stroke is a sudden headache or migraine without any known cause.

If one of these warning signs is suspected it is best that you are prepared. You should also know the nearest hospital that can give you immediate medical attention when this situation comes and keep the phone number of your doctor right by the phone. Contacts of the persons that can instantly help you must be placed where everybody can see it. The numbers of the doctors that are near in your location, who can immediately attend to you during this emergency must be also listed beside the phone.

Always remember that not all of these signs can be indicative of stroke it can be less serious but it could also be as serious as stroke. When it comes to a serious condition such as a stroke, it is better to err on the side of caution and not take chances. What is important here is that you know what is normal in your health or the health of a loved one so that when there is a sudden change from the ordinary, it will alert you to potential problems and the possibility of an impending stroke.
